Parlour 153 was created to provide a forum for established writers, artists, and other creative professionals sharing works in progress for a receptive audience.

Parlour 153 debuted in the first annual Studio Tour of Harlem in 2005. Noreen Dean Dresser and Laurie Elizabeth Talbot Hall, co-directors of Parlour 153 exhibited work from their collection. That summer saw a series of Sunday afternoon events, featuring new works, good food, wine and a dialogue with the artist or writer concerning his or her new work.
