"Creation Myths for an Age of Dispair"

"CREATION MYTHS FOR AN AGE OF DISPAIR" is a forum for visions of hope. The mixed media paintings incorporate personal commentary and insights from scholars, writers, and persons involved in humanitarian service. At the genesis of each mixed media painting, the artist invited each participant to contribute what he/she would leave as a mark on a wall in the 1990's for generations to come. Upon completion of the piece, the visual dialogue produced a response/statement for the viewing public about the shared artwork/lifework.

The mixed media paintings consist of juxapositioned passages of atmospheric light, the dark spatial expanse, earth, and a multitude of wall surfaces found throughout the world. A wide spectrum of materials used allegorically to reference the participant world. The central concern is the relationship of a work of art to meaning and ethics in the individual and community life. These mixed media pieces present the self reflection of the participants.
