"HOMOSEXUAL MEMORIAL IMAGINATION”
Starting in 1994, annually, one day has been set aside to memorialize the homosexual community’s experience during the Nazi Era at Congregation Beth Simchat Torah (CBST)in New York City. In 1997, the Board of Directors of CBST requested that a competition be held to find an appropriate piece of artwork for America's first Memorial to the Persecution of Homosexuals under the Nazi regime. The International Association of Lesbian and Gay Children of Holocaust Survivors (IALGCHS) facilitated the competition in which submissions were reviewed in 1998, and the CBST Board voted to accept the memorial Memory: The Homosexual Memorial Imagination C98 by artist Noreen Dean Dresser.
