WHEN A GOY READS TORAH:
Envisioning a New World Genesis Chapter One

This series is an investigation of Torah’s Creation Story. Its central premise, the universe and all of its unfolding manifestations, affords us an opportunity for life. The Hebrew community, begins its sacred text Genesis, looking out into the creation in its entirety. The sheer breathe of its cosmological expanse, begins the delineation of Hebrew text that would define not only the ancient Israelis but would continue in the moral tradition of the West. The contemporary world has on a momentous scale- vast economic development, struggles over resources and ongoing political turmoil raises the question-How do we come to understand, separate and integrate other cultures into ourselves? Genesis continually challenges the reader: constructing time as temporal and transcendent, the particular reflecting the infinite and endings as passages.
